The journey begins as soon as you leave Agadir. For the entire 86 km drive, the scenery is breathtaking: the landscape is dotted with argan trees, where goats climb with agility, creating a quintessential scene that never fails to bring a smile. The drive is a delight for the senses, winding through vast orchards of orange and clementine trees that line the road with their sweet fragrance.
Upon arriving in Taroudant, you immediately understand why it’s nicknamed “Little Marrakech.” Its majestic ramparts protect a vibrant city center: a constant flurry of mopeds, street vendors, and passersby. It’s on foot that the medina reveals its full charm. Strolling through the narrow streets of the artisan souk, one detail strikes you: the long indigo-blue veils worn by the women. This mysterious color is a direct legacy of the ancient Saharan caravans that once passed through this region.
The day continues with a drive back to the Tiout oasis, 30 km away. This village, with its red ochre houses, seems suspended in time. To truly soak up the serenity of its palm grove, nothing beats a donkey ride: it’s an authentic and relaxing experience.
To end this stop in style, lunch at the Kasbah offers a traditional feast of lemon chicken and couscous, all accompanied by a breathtaking panoramic view of the oasis. Around 3:30 pm, we leave this haven of peace and head back to Agadir, our heads filled with vibrant colors and delicious flavors.
